Philly Franks Steaks

If you want one of the best beef sandwiches in Southern California try “Philly Frank’s” on Rancho Santa Fe Boulevard right here in San Marcos. Order the Philly Frank’s “Works Sandwich” ($6.95) and you can’t go wrong, period! This hearty sandwich has tremendous “eye appeal”. It consists of thin slices of beef grilled with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers and cheese. Stuffed so full it appears to be an open faced sandwich. The taste is delicious. I enjoyed a side of French fries with my sandwich and they were thin, tasty and cooked perfectly. During the lunch hour, the restaurant is packed mostly with men with big appetites.

The restaurant itself is simple. It’s small with a window like counter for ordering. The décor is like being in a sports bar in Philadelphia. They have sports pictures on the wall, a couple of televisions sets for watching the games and the floor consists of green and white tiles, reflecting the colors of the Philadelphia Eagles football team. The environment is the perfect spot to have a sandwich and a beer during sporting events although the seating is limited.

Folks, it you like a great beef sandwich this is the place to go. They have other sandwiches on their menu but the Philly “Works” sandwich is too good to pass up. It’s one of those places that when it crosses your mind, you envision that sandwich and it whets your appetite to return.
