NUCCI'S

1589 S. Melrose Drive
Vista, CA 92081
Driving Directions

Located outside Nucci’s Restaurant is a statue of a jovial Italian chef, very appropriate for this delightfully cheerful Italian restaurant. Upon entering we were made to feel welcome and that our patronage was appreciated.

The environment portrays a typical family Italian restaurant, wood wainscoting some latticework, crown mounding featuring scenes of Italy and a nice Italian placemat with a map of Italy and some facts about the country. But once you taste the food, oh my! This restaurant stands out from the crowd.

For starters, we sampled the Bruschetta Alla Romana ($4.95), this is grilled Tuscan bread topped with chopped Roma tomatoes, garlic, basil and fontina cheese. Absolutely outstanding, this Bruschetta is one of those appetizers that you know you will order again on your next visit. Another appetizer sampled was the Calamari Fritti ($8.95), lightly breaded tender calamari nicely seasoned and served with homemade marinara sauce. If you enjoy calamari, this is a good selection. Next we tried the Insalata Della Casa ($6.95) the larger size recommended for two consisting of assorted greens, tomatoes, Italian olives, red onions, and Gorgonzola cheese tossed in a light lemon dressing. It was fresh and crisp and mixed together perfectly. For entrees the Veal Piccata ($13.95) is a gourmets’ dream, tender thin sliced veal sautéed in lemon butter, caper and wine sauce. Enjoy it with a glass of your favorite red wine. Close your eyes and you will be transported to culinary heaven. This is no exaggeration; it is a very fine veal dish. Our accommodating waitperson, Kit, suggested we try their most popular pasta dish and we obliged. The Penne Amatriciana ($10.95) showcases the culinary skills of the chef. It was excellent. Other tasty entrees were the Pollo Marsala ($12.95) a breast of chicken entrée with mushrooms sautéed in sweet wine, and the Melanzane Rollatine ($11.95) which is a breaded eggplant dish stuffed and rolled with Ricotta and Fontina cheeses.

If you are in the mood for pizza, you can’t go wrong with Nucci’s pizza. Their pizza reflects the seasonings and care given to pizzas I have experienced in Italy. The quality is far better than pizzas you get delivered to your door. If you have enough room for dessert try the homemade tiramisu, very light and delicious. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Our experience was so enjoyable we didn’t want to leave. We enjoyed good service, very fair prices, ample portions and great tasting Italian cuisine.

Nucci’s restaurant could easily be described as a neighborhood Italian Restaurant in the City of Vista. But that is really an understatement. The excellence matches highly regarded restaurants you would find in tourist areas such as Las Vegas and Rome. This excellence was reflected by the size of their patronage. We were there on a Tuesday night and it was very busy.

When asked to recommend restaurants to friends and people this restaurant deserves to be at the top of the list for Italian Cuisine. For those of you that frequent restaurants please give Nucci’s a try and tell me what you think. I was so impressed I invite you to experience this delightful restaurant.
