Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar

573 Grand Avenue
San Marcos CA, 92069
Driving Directions

Applebee’s in San Marcos is a clean, upbeat family restaurant served by a well-trained, happy staff. Their attention to detail must be one of the reasons Applebee’s is one of the largest family restaurants in the country.

The restaurant’s décor is has bright hanging lamps at each table and the walls are adorned with movie star and community related pictures. The sports bar is separate from the restaurant. It has three television sets and is decorated with sports pictures. They serve a variety of beers and mixed alcohol specialty drinks.

We started with the Nachos Nuevos appetizer; lots of crisp corn tortilla chips covered with spicy ground beef, black beans, queso cheese sauce, sour cream, fresh lettuce, tomatoes and jalapenos. This was large enough to be an entrée.

If you like barbecue, try their delicious riblets ($10.99 for the larger portion). They are tender, meaty and cooked in a heavenly sauce. I also enjoyed the “Shrimp N Parmesan” Sirloin ($12.49). A tender sirloin steak topped with cheese and herbs served with garlic mashed potatoes and a choice of side dishes. A very acceptable entrée, particularly when you consider the price.

The “Oriental Chicken Salad” ($8.49) is excellent. The chicken is nicely seasoned and the special Oriental dressing provides the perfect condiment to make this one of Applebee’s best selling menu items. Toasted sliced almonds and crispy noodles also add a nice touch.

Applebee’s menu has a good variety to choose from. They have fun milk shakes such as the “Oreo Cookie” and lots of creative desserts ranging from “Maple Butter Blondie to “Triple Chocolate Meltdown”. For large group orders, they have a special menu. Take-out orders are picked up at a separate “Carside To Go” entrance.

At Applebee’s, customer satisfaction is important. They even open the door for you upon entering and leaving the restaurant.
